“Realizing women’s access to full, productive employment and decent work, through social dialogue and collective bargaining”
The International Labour Organization, together with the International Trade Union Confederation, held an event on March 15th, 2016 themed “Realizing women’s access to full, productive employment and decent work, through social dialogue and collective bargaining.” NABU has participated in this event which highlighted the fact that women’s labor is still seen as less valuable than their male counterparts. According to the ILO, if we continue at this pace, it will take women decades to achieve equal payment to men, for performing the same tasks. Another important point remembered during the session, was that women still perform a greater share of unpaid work, specially within households. And in order to achieve goal 5, women’s labor and pay has to be equaled to men’s. NABU has contributed a statement to support universal equal payment for women.
